After living in Chiang Mai for 4 months, I thought it was about time before we leave to compile my top ten cheap eats in Chiang Mai! I tried to include a wide range of cuisines and prices so there is something for everyone. Also everywhere is very accommodating for different dietary needs so they are good for everyone! 1. Blue Diamond: The Breakfast Club

Blue Diamond is easily one of our favourite restaurants in Chiang Mai! Not only is their menu huge as they try to cater for all dietry needs but they also have a bakery with the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had! Whether you fancy a full English breakfast or a traditional Kao Soy, Blue Diamond really has it all!

Must try: Banana pancakes with syrup!

2. By Hand Pizza Cafe

When it comes to pizza, Thailand can really miss the mark but never fear, By Hand has you covered. A place you may never stumble across it actually isn’t too hard to find and is so worth it! They have a varied menu offering everything from meat lovers to an array of vegetarian and vegan pizza options! They make it right in front of you in their wood fire oven and the staff are super friendly.

3. NightOut Market (Outside Maya Shopping Centre)

Located outside of Maya shopping centre they have recently spruced it up with fairy lights and new food stands but their is one stall which is our ultimate favourite. Big statement but the Pad Thai here is easily the best we have ever had and that’s not an unpopular opinion. Costing only 45-55baht for a huge portion. Give the lady a big smile because she cooks up pad thai for hours and never fails to smile when you approach!

4. Maya Mall Food Court

The Maya food court is loved by all travellers passing through or living in Chiang Mai. With a tonne of stalls selling everything from Chinese duck to fresh fruit smoothies! The best part is that a huge meal will normally cost you less than 60baht and they are open all day!

Must try: Spring Rolls from the vegetarian stall!!

5. Accha Indian Restuarant & Bar

Situated next to Starbucks on Nimman road, this Indian restaurant will keep you coming back for more! The food, service and price cannot be faulted however the seating is outside so on those rainy Thailand days it can make for a pretty wet dining experience!

6. Taste From Heaven

A completely vegetarian and vegan restaurant Taste from Heaven is loved by all no matter what your food preference! Serving up some scrummy breakfast options and the most famous desert, 100% vegan brownies accompanied by some coconut ice cream! If you try nothing else, get the brownies!

Must try: Vegan brownies with coconut ice cream!

7. Food4Thought

Not the cheapest option for a meal but could be one of the best! Food4Thought really know what they are doing when it comes to good food! The wraps are easily the most popular items on the menu as well as they amazing slow drip coffee. It may take a while to make but is so worth it! Also, they currently have some tiny kittens running around the place; need I say more?

8. Tidmor

We sadly only discovered this place recently and it has become one of our favourite cheap eats! If you are a dumpling lover then you will be in heaven. Being pot sticker specialists they know what they are doing and it shows! A set of 10 will set you back around 99 baht and they have a great menu for noodle dishes if you fancy filling up for the night!

9. Phon-non Cafe

One of the first restaurants we came across when we came to Chiang Mai and situated next to Tha Phae Gate is Phon-non cafe. Nothing fancy about this place but they serve up some big portions at reasonable prices! Also, it has a great vibe just to chill out with a coffee and watch the world go by!

10. Salsa Kitchen

If you have a big appetite, then the Salsa Kitchen on Huay Kaew road is for you! Serving huge belly busting borritios and crunchy taco’s a meal with a beer here will put you back around 250 baht and you will not leave unhappy or craving another  dish!
